My Take on the Travon Martin Case..

This one is going to be a tough one, so here’ s the disclaimer from now: you may not like what you are about to read. This is an “I’m just sayin’” Moment.
Number 1, if I hear one more thing about this case I am going to scream. Okay black people, we get the point. Now shut up.

In my opinion it was not a race issue, but rather a right or wrong issue. But then again, I wasn’t there to see what happened and neither do I know all the facts. And what a surprise neither do you. I gotta be frank here.

Here’s what is really irking my nerves: The fact that none of you people who are now ignorantly marching around with “I am Travon” signs, are normally un-opinionated, uninformed, and disinterested in the politics of this country. (Have you voted lately, oooo oooo yea?? ::Side eye:: ) You’ve decided to hop on the bandwagon and protest and be all loud mouthed about. Without a doubt racism STILL exists in the mighty U S of A, additionally sad cases of racism like this occur every day single day, unpublicized, unheard of, and un-noticed.

What’s my bottom line? Don’t decide to be some mighty activist now if you weren’t one before. What about all the other unarmed Travons out there? How ‘bout you go dig up those cases and speak for them too. And you want to know the saddest part of it all? One year from now, all you thousands of people won’t even give this case and its surrounding issues a thought. Sad, but true. You will go about your daily living selfishly thinking about the needs for yourselves. That’s how this country operates. The media pumps the public up with all this exaggerated information and has the NERVE to replay it over and over and over again…only to drop the issue full force as if it never existed. And we the public gobble it all up like fresh hot cakes strait out the iHop kitchen. (Shakes My Head) Then we completely forgot what we ate 5 seconds ago.

I am so sick and tired of the lackadaisical, follow-fashion ways of some African American people (and non-black) in this country. Silly. Honestly, I would respect you more if you were an Al Sharpton or Jess e Jackson before this case of Travon. Shame on you.

Now, was Zimmerman wrong, from the “facts” that have been fed to us, obviously , yes. Did the police officials properly handle the case according to procedure? Well that’s obvious too. Is it a black or white issue? Ask Zimmerman himself and police officials. To me it just seems like the police officials were just going through the “motions”. Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that the African American male population has the highest rates of incarceration, unemployment (a contributor to increased crime rates), and death. If you were a police officer and a majority of the young men you put hand-cuffs on were African American, and you were put in the place of the officers who were involved in the Zimmerman case, wouldn’t you think the black kid was the trouble maker??? It’s simple Psychology. (I have BS in Psychology I think I have enough clout to say so) If you locked up people everyday, wouldn’t you eventually fall into the motions and “slack off”? I mean, I’m just sayin’.

Once again, by no means am I making excuses for the officials nor am I making any excuses for Zimmerman. I am simply pointing out a different perspective.
THINK black America. We DON’T know the facts and won’t know the real facts until litigation. Black people, don’t just hop on the bandwagon without thinking first.
To the friends and family of Travon, my heart really goes out to you. There’s nothing the public can do to bring Travon back, not even the charge of Zimmerman. I pray that the Lord comforts your heart and I pray that you find strength in Him during your time of bereavement.

~Ms. Jay
