“Reoooowww, reeoowwww!!” Oh, the sound of my kitty, affectionately known as “Baby Lion” in my house. I got her about 2 years ago. I was so unhappy with my life. I had no social life and no one to neither confide in nor listen to my issues. So I thought, “Hey, maybe I need a pet or something.”
Lucky for me my cousin was advertising some free kittens on her Facebook page. Totally excited, I immediately shot her a message. Within in the week a swung by her house only to find a whole litter to choose from every last one of the black and white (or all black—like their mommy)!
I distinctly remembered Baby Lion. She was the only one curled up, fast asleep. I chose her because I was actually scared that if I chose any of the awake ones they’d give me a fight and I’d get scratched! Believe it or not, I’m not an animal person at all!
Anyway, I’ve learned soo much from this little cat. One thing I’ve learned: My little cat DOES NOT GIVE UP. Let me tell you something, I’ve never seen such a persistent cat!
Like many home pets, my cat has been programed to shoot to the kitchen at the least little sound heard in hopes to snack a treat. Today was no different. As I sat down to eating my Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo from my local mom and pop shop, here comes Baby Lion, looking at me with her rounded eyes and widen-to-capacity pupils, “Meeeoooo!” It was as if she was saying, “Can I have some too?”. It is the cutest thing in the world to see here. <3
I knew full well that the little cat was not hungry. She was fed prior to me sitting for my feast. What’s was so interesting about this cat is that she did not move until and she got a bite. Today, she sat there until my very bit. Honestly I was too full to finish! Delish it was, btw. Anyway, to reward her for her patience and persistence, a gave her a little piece of my leftover chicken.
And so is the story of my cat. Any time any one of us (family) would sit to eat, Baby Lion comes running, hungry or not hungry…just to get a treat. It’s not all the time she gets something though. In fact, most of the time she doesn't get a morsel, but you can always bank on the fact that she’ll be there waiting!
So what does this teach me? Simple, to never give up. Even when things don’t work out as planned, I still need to be consistent and persistent in my strive, whatever it maybe, just like my Baby Lion does for chicken.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, “That cat just wants to use you for food! She doesn’t know what she’s doing!” Although you might be right, but maybe, just maybe we can learn that if we set aside (just for a moment) all our refined and controlled behavior and go back to our basic need as a human being: physiological needs (food, sex, breathing etc.) and tap into your “Id” if you will (See more here and here) we will be more satisfied with our lives. This is the same basic drive my cat runs off of and you know what, she does whatever it takes to get what she wants. If we do *whatever* it takes to get what we want with no regard to failure, be it personal, professional, or social we’ll get somewhere. J
I leave you with this quote:
“You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take”

Do what you gotta do to get where you need to get without regard to failure. Just remember that you have to at least make an attempt at the task and don’t forget to be persistent.
Thanks for checking in guys! Take care. <3
